Justin Doyle
Born in Lancaster, Justin was a chorister at Westminster Cathedral and studied at King’s College, Cambridge. He won second prize in the prestigious Cadaqués Orchestra Conducting Competition and was awarded the first Conductor Fellowship with the BBC Singers. Recent engagements have included concerts with the Orchestra of Opera North, Northern Sinfonia, Hallé Orchestra, King’s Camerata, Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra, New London Orchestra, Manchester Camerata, Essex Symphony Orchestra, Jersey Chamber Orchestra, Da Chiesa baroque ensemble, regular broadcasts for BBC Radio 3 and a cover CD for BBC Music Magazine.
Justin was Artistic Director of Ryedale Festival and Swaledale Festival and is currently Principal Conductor of Manchester Chamber Choir, Musical Director of Opera North Children’s Chorus and a Choral Director for the Diocese of Leeds. For Eastern Opera, Opera North and English Touring Opera he has conducted productions of Bizet’s Carmen, Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love, Gluck’s Orpheus and Eurydice, Handel’s Orlando, Haydn’s L’infedeltà delusa, and Philemon und Baucis, Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel, Kodály’s Háry János, Mozart’s Così fan tutte, The Marriage of Figaro, The Rescue from the Seraglio, and Die Zauberflöte, Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas and Johann Strauss’s Die Fledermaus.
